sisters
January 25, 2012this is what happens when you turn your back for a minute in my house.
somehow michael anne found some yogurt and was trying to “feed” tess {in lucys tap shoes of course}
ryan found the duo and as i turned the corner we both just laughed – tess was waiting so patiently for her next bite and michael anne really trying to aim well.
these 2 i am SURE will be a mischievous duo

Super sweet! You need to record that on video. My middle little guy did the same thing to his little brother (they are 15 months apart) when he was almost two. On days that I’m stressed about mommyhood, I pull out that clip and play it. Makes me smile every time.

Such beautiful images! I love your header as well. The photos are almost hypnotizing!
the grind
January 19, 2012i went to the doctor yesterday {by myself}
it was such a treat – as i sat and stared at the wall {which was so relaxing} i kept thinking – its so quiet i can think. i couldn’t come up with anything to think about because all i could think was …..its so quiet. Please just let me sit here and stare at the wall – please don’t call my name – it was like a spiritual yoga retreat. me the chair and the brown paneled wall. silence
my time came and went and home again to the ones i love, to the ones who need need need – need mommy all the time. oh the demands of motherhood!
admittedly, the past 2 days I have had a negative attitude and my patience has been very very very thin. 3 sick kids and a husband to let it out on {sorry babes} my mind just has not been where it needs to be. You know the days you just want to say, “ya’ll fend for yourself, I’m catching the next plane and going somewhere alone” Maybe no one feels this way and I am crazy!!! Most likely true
Breathing treatments, cough, fever, ear infections, runny noses, a certain middle child pooping on the floor, both babies taking terrible naps, feeding 3 starving kids 3 times a day {no one seems to have any patience at all while I am fixing the plates} bath time, crying, another certain middle child screaming at me “self self self, by myself” {in my head screaming “just let me freakin help you it will be so much easier” cleaning bottles upon bottles everyday, sleepless nights……………….i just had enough! i reached my point – DONE! Checked out!!!
After prayer and unloading on friends and encouragement and my devotional Jesus Calling – I woke up today back in the game. The stresses are still there, everyone still sick, I just decided to change MY attitude. Overall its been a much better day!
Much better for the kids to have a happy mommy and my mind has been much happier too
Motherhood – no one can prepare you for the love and no one can prepare you for the work. They go hand in hand, but sometimes the work gets the best of us.
Hoping all you mommies are having a happy day! And if the work is getting the best of you – I send you encouragement, love, a pat on the back and hope, that tomorrow will be an easier day. One day at a time. or for me, more like one hour at a time
– actually minute by minute
{the bottles – an everyday puzzle i must figure out}

here’s to bluer skies
think about all the beauty that is still left around you, and be happy – Anne Frank

You are certainly NOT alone! It’s so funny to read this because you always make motherhood look so easy and you always look great! Pat yourself on the back because you are an inspiration to so many other Mommys….you just might not know it!

Nawww I think every mum know exactly what you are talking about KK! You had me laughing when you said staring at the wall was like a Yoga Retreat! A mum’s workload is massive at the best of times but when someone is sick or everyone is sick in your case – it hits ten fold
. Hope everyone is feeling much better very soon. I am so glad you took it upon yourself to take on a different approach with it all therefore making the day a little brighter. I think we should all stop and do that sometimes – it’s important for our family’s. Sending kisses from Oz. Cassie xx -
This really struck home with me. My first baby is 4 months old and there is no way I could have possibly prepared for how hard motherhood is. Thanks for sharing, it makes me feel more normal
You also gave me a chuckle because when my husband gets home from work, and takes Alice, I always say that I’m going to go back in the bedroom to stare at the wall

I want to read that book now! xo

sleeping in, daddy home all day,naked babies, family picnic, swinging, playing in the fort, barbie jeep adventures, Guinness beef stew {insert ah-mazing! cooked for 10 hours} movie night with the hubs – a PERFECT day!
here is a recipe I started with as a base {I added 2 cups beef broth, used tomato sauce {1 can} instead of paste, 1 package lipton onion soup mix, added potatoes, parsnips and celery, a dash of worcheshire {sp?}sauce}
lets just say it was perfect! served with buttered and toasted crusty french bread – Yum!
